Paralegal

Samantha has been working in worker’s compensation law for over 13 years. In 2009, she started as a part time file clerk for Barbara J. Furutani, PC, worked her way up to legal assistant and paralegal for The Law Offices of Furutani & Merkel and is now the senior paralegal at The Merkel Law Firm, LLC. Over the last ten plus years, Sam has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience regarding worker’s compensation practices and laws in Colorado and how to best serve our clients. Every day she strives to obtain the medical and indemnity benefits that our clients are owed, whether that is by making phone calls, writing letters or filing pleadings with the courts.

After graduating from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science in Communications and a major in Theater, Sam lived in Los Angeles, CA for a couple of years where she landed a guest star role on CBS’s The Unit and a Saab commercial before returning to her roots in Denver. A native of Denver, Sam is a huge sports fan, and in 2017 she combined her communication skills and her love of sports into a degree in Sports Broadcasting from the Colorado Media School. When Sam is not at her desk, she enjoys riding BMX bikes with her family, playing the bass and keyboard in her family band, The Temper Tantrums, and hanging out with her dog, June.
